I love Halloween. And I love collecting vintage Halloween objects year round. When I was asked to come up with a vintage Halloween theme for a workshop I am teaching this fall, I was thrilled to experiment with shadow boxes, which always catch my eye. Here you have 2 examples of what can be done with an unfinished wooden shadow box and a few simple elements. Each student will come up with a different look as I will have choices galore of paper, embellishements, stamps, ephemera, etc. Any feedback always welcome!

One of the best things that has happened to me lately is that I found your blog! I love all of your art, but these have really caught my fancy this morning. I am working on a few projects now that I need to finish up before trying my hand at a shadow box, but it is next on my list of "must makes". You have inspired me!!!

What darling shadow boxes! THe little bottles and cheesecloth add just the right touch.

One word of feed back though is for the one with the little boy...The picture behind him looks a little out of place and distracts the main focus. Maybe it should be farther down and closer in like a picture?

What did you use for the little brooms? THey are too cute!

Thanks for all the comments.... Jennifer the little brooms are handmade by me, out of raffia and a dowel rod, and then distessed and aged. I see what you mean about the picture behind the little boy. Thanks!
